Lempuyang Temple
Lempuyang Luhur Temple and other Sad Pura Sad Kahyangan were founded in the 11th century AD when Mpu Kuturan accompanied King Udayana to rule Bali with his queen. Pura Sad Kahyangan was established to protect Bali so that people continue to do things that are justified according to religious teachings. The establishment of the Lempuyang Luhur temple can’t be separated from the event of the downfall of “Bhatara Tiga” in ancient times from Semeru Mountain in Bali and events after the event. Of so many sources, it is worth citing three of them, namely :
- In Lontar Kutara Kanda Dewa Purana Bangsul was declared Sang Hyang Parameswara carrying mountains in Bali from Jambhudwipa (India), from Mount Mahameru. The piece of Mount Mahameru was brought to Bali and divided into three major parts and also small parts. The center is made of Mount Batur and Mount Rinjani, while the peak is Mount Agung. The smaller fragments become the mountain slopes in Bali that are related to each other. The mountains include Mount Tapsahi, Pengelengan, Siladnyana, Beratan, Batukaru, Nagaloka, Pulaki, Sangkur Peak, Rangda Hill, Trate Bang, Padang Dawa, Andhakasa, Uluwatu, Sraya and Gunung Lempuhyang. In the Old Javanese language Lempuh which means “gamongan”. He brought this mountain range that surrounded Bali Island by Sang Hyang Parameswara as the location of God’s manifestation gods to guard Bali.
- In Lontar Kutara Kanda the Purana God of Bangsul also stated that the Parameswara assigned his son Sang Hyang Agnijayasakti down to Bali and preserved the welfare of Bali and located on Mount Lempuhyang or Gunung Gamorangan along with other gods.
- In the inscription Sading C year 1072 Saka stated that Gunung Lempuhyang also called Gunung Adri Karang. At Mount Adri Karang this is the King of Jayasakti, because that is the mountain also called Karangsemadi. King Jayasakti was instructed by his father Sang Hyang Guru to go down to Bali to build the temple to become a safe and prosperous area. King Jayasakti invites his priests and his helpers and people to realize the order of Sang Hyang Guru to build Bali by initiating the construction of the temple at Mount Lempuhyang as the statues of God as Sang Hyang Iswara. Previously, Raja Jayasakti did as a first step in building a peaceful life in Bali.
Priest from the Lempuyang Temple are always held by one offspring traditionally according to the purusa (patrilinial) line, while the “pengangge” used in Lempuyang Luhur Temple is always white and yellow. When the aci or piodalan ceremony is held, all ingredients of the ingredients are provided by the “Truna” (youth), while those who work are “” Daha “(krandan) are teenage women. This is so that all of them are sacred, because they are spiritual, although sometimes this cannot yet be a guarantee of the sanctity.
Tirta Gangga Water Palace
The history of this Tirta Gangga Water Palace, where based on the sources we read, we can describe that the history of Tirta Gangga began during the Karangasem Kingdom. Tirta gangga built in 1948 by King of karangasem, ;Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem. This water park is constructed in a very unique architectural style of Bali and China. This palace has been shaped in the form of a beautiful water garden and it is located near a natural spring. This spring wells up under a hugh banyan tree which stands at the foot of a hill. At the top of this hill stands a village temple. The scenery of the area is fantastic with great views and the climate is relatively cool. These facts, together with the religious rites of the spring, inspired the King to build himself a private country house nearby this spring set amidst a beautiful recreational garden. He called it Tirta gangga – derived from the words ‘Tirta’ (blessed water) and ‘Gangga’ from ‘Ganges’, the holy river in India.
Virgin Beach / Clear white Sand Beach
Virgin Beach has several names. Foreign tourists usually call it as Virgin Beach because the beach is far from the crowds and still natural. While other foreign tourists call this beach as White Sand Beach because only this beach around Karangasem city has white sand. Although the actual color of the beach sand is not whiter than Padang Padang Beach or Pandawa Beach. The white sand on this beach depends on the volcanic content of Mount Agung. Yes, Virgin Beach is only about 33 km from Mount Agung. If you drive, it will take around one and a half hours to get here.
To visit Virgin Beach you can ask local residents because the access to this beach is relatively far from the city center, even you have to find some road instructions to get to the beach. As a suggestion, if you want to ask local residents, they usually call this place as Perasi Beach. Since it is located in Perasi Village, Karangasem Sub-district, Karangasem Regency, Bali. It is the reason why Virgin beach has several names. You can call this beach as what you want.
Tenganan Traditional village

Tenganan is good to visit any time of year. The village retains much of its age-old layout and architecture. Even though television antennae and electrical wiring are now visible here and there, most of the stone and earthen walls, bamboo and thatch roofing are reminiscent of earlier times.
Almost all the house compounds open their doors to visitors, each offering something different for the curious visitor to see. Inside, you’ll find craftsmen at work weaving a geringsing cloth, carving wooden masks or creating basketry items. Home stalls sell arts and handicrafts, and you can directly bargain with the stall owners.
There are some generic Balinese items such as sashes, batiks, and wayang puppets that you can find almost anywhere in Bali. But some handicrafts are original to the village and are worth looking at, such as wall decorations in the style of lontar (palm leaf) manuscripts. Most items sold don’t bear price tags, and the bargaining process can be a big part of the experience.
